Welcome to
Birchwood Community
High School

I am absolutely delighted and privileged to be the Headteacher of Birchwood Community High School.  As a school, we understand young people only get one chance to experience school-life and our aim is very simple: to support them to grow into confident and independent learners with high aspirations, a love of learning and strong community values.

We are delighted to share the latest Ofsted Report for Birchwood High School. The publication of this report is affirmation of our educational philosophy and reflects the hard work, dedication, and commitment of our staff, students, and wider school community. The report reads extremely positively, and it identifies the many good practices at our school. Our favourite part of the report is the opening paragraph: "Pupils are confident to display their individuality in a place where difference is celebrated." This affirmation of our values—Aspiration, Knowledge, and Kindness—is a testament to the supportive and inclusive environment we foster at Birchwood. 📢 Important Update: School Arrangements for TodayDue to the ongoing icy conditions around school, students will not be able to go outside during break and lunch again today. While pathways are clear, the remaining icy areas make it unsafe for 1,000 students to be outdoors. To ensure everyone has enough time to eat and rest, we will split lunch periods as we do on Thursdays. Each year group will have 30 minutes for lunch, and the school day will finish at 2:40 pm. There is no loss of teaching time, and this plan helps staff leave safely before the fog sets in again.Safety remains our top priority, and we truly appreciate your understanding. The weather is looking up for next week, with temperatures rising, so normal footwear and timings will resume.Thank you for your support, and have a lovely weekend. Stay safe, and we look forward to welcoming students back next week! ... See MoreSee Less
