BP have introduced a great externally judged competition that we would love as many of our years 7, 8 and 9 to take part in.
As a green flag Award winning eco school, we think that this is just the competition for all our budding eco warriors out there.
The competition rules are easy. Students just need to:
- Find out as much as they can about biodiversity, why it matters and how it can be improved.
- Get creative and come up with a design for a wild area that uses natural and technical solutions to provide a home for nature that maintains and improves biodiversity in their local area.
- Record their ideas as a sketch, plan, or labelled diagram, or even create a painting or computer model.
Prizes
A winner will be chosen from each age category, as well as an overall challenge winner. The overall winner will receive a £3,000 prize to spend on creating their home for nature, while the category winners will receive £1,000 each.
Plus, everyone who sends an entry in will earn 2 House points!
Supporting resources are available at https://bpes.bp.com/?utm_source=redirect&utm_medium=redirect including a Kick-off biodiversity video lesson in which Wildlife presenter Michaela Strachan introduces you to the challenge. The concept of biodiversity and why we all need to care about it.
Deadlines and how to enter the competition.
School will send off your entries so either email your work to Mrs Dempsey on Edempsey@birchwoodhigh.org or call into school and drop entries at reception
The entries will be posted off on Wednesday 24 February 2021 so make sure everything is with us before then.
Good luck and give it your best BCHS!
