Welcome, Year 6! We can’t wait to meet you.
We know that you are probably feeling a mixture of excitement and nervousness about coming to Birchwood as a year 7 student. To help you to feel as prepared as possible, we will update this page (which has been made especially for your year group!) with information that you will find useful before you start with us in September.
What can I do to get ready for September?
There are lots of things that you can do to put yourself in a positive frame of mind for September. Making sure that you get a good rest over the holiday and being kind to yourself are both really important and will help you to feel ready for your new school.
You may also want to have a taster of the sort of work that you will complete here at Birchwood- this is completely optional (nobody will test you on this, don’t worry!) but it may help you to feel more prepared when you arrive.
English
Below, you will find a link to the vocabulary list that you will use in English when you arrive in September. There is also a link to a list of activities that you can complete, to help you to feel more confident with these new words.
If you do complete any of this, be sure to show your English teacher when you start with us.
Maths
We have also included a link to a SPARX maths booklet, as well as the answer booklet so that you can see how many you are getting right (don’t look at the answers too soon!).
Again, if you complete this, be sure to tell your maths teacher when you start with us.
