When Shannon Downing in 11HM adopted a kitten from the Cats Protection League in Warrington, she had no idea that it would lead to getting through to the final of their country wide baking Competition.
Shannon was so impressed with the work that the Cats Protection League do in caring for abandoned and neglected cats and kittens that she began following them on social media and it was there she saw the competition asking keen bakers to enter their weekly baking competition on the theme of cats. Themes included cute cats, famous cats, big cats and favourite cats. Each week six winners were selected from all over the country to go forward to the National Grand Final.
Though Shannon wasn’t successful on the first three weeks, she didn’t give up and on the 4th week’s competition was selected as a winner and put through to the national competition which was judged by Kim Joy, a Great British Bake Off finalist.
Shannon felt so proud to be representing Warrington in the final and though she was not the winner, came away with a whole new set of baking skills and an engraved Wooden spoon announcing her as a ‘Pawsome baker 2020’
Congratulations Shannon, on being a winner and rescuing a beautiful cat!
