Today is National Poetry day and Ms Mills alongside our English department wanted to do something special to celebrate the day and the beauty of poetry.
So our year 7 learners performed and videoed a recital of William Ernest Henley’s inspirational poem Invictus.
The poem beautifully echoes their new beginnings as members of Team Birchwood, where we encourage them, along with our support and guidance, to be in the driving seat of their own learning and outcomes. It also echoes the resilience and courage that we all must show in the face of the adversities that our present pandemic has placed upon us.
We are so proud of their performance, showing such commitment to a fantastic start to their time at BCHS and their courage to do their best despite circumstances.
